In the third quarter of 2023, the top five social networking applications on iOS in the Middle East—Threads, WhatsApp Messenger, Telegram Messenger, Facebook, and TwitterIt for Twitter X—displayed varied performance trends in weekly downloads, revenue, and active users.

Threads saw its weekly downloads peak at approximately 539K at the start of July, before experiencing a decline to around 36K by the end of September. Despite the fluctuations in downloads, the app maintained a steady user base with active users peaking at 567K in early July and stabilizing to about 397K by the end of the quarter.

WhatsApp Messenger demonstrated consistent performance in weekly downloads, with figures hovering between 85K and 156K throughout the quarter. The app's active user base remained robust, starting at 9.1M and ending the quarter at roughly 9M.

Telegram Messenger experienced a steady revenue stream, peaking at approximately $26.2K in the final week of September. Weekly downloads showed an upward trend mid-quarter, reaching around 104K in the week of August 21. Active users increased consistently, starting from 5.8M in late June to around 6.2M by the end of September.

Facebook saw its weekly revenue peak at $39.4K in early August. Weekly downloads fluctuated, with a high of 67K in early July and a low of 49K in mid-September. The active user base remained relatively stable, averaging around 8.9M throughout the quarter.

TwitterIt for Twitter X displayed a sharp increase in downloads in late July, peaking at approximately 141K. Revenue saw a notable spike to $224 in the same period. Active users grew significantly, peaking at around 108K by the end of July and maintaining a steady number of around 85K by the end of September.
